Country music singer-songwriter, Stonewall Jackson’s rise to fame is the stuff of legend. Riding into Nashville in his truck, he strode into the Acuff-Rose offices, played them 3 songs and landed himself a contract with The Grand Ole Opry without having recorded a note. Mentored by Ernest Tubb, his championing of honky-tonk country music brought him legions of fans. Songs such as “Life To Go”, “Waterloo”, “A Wound Time Can't Erase”, and “Why I'm Walking” remain much loved classics of the genre. This fantastic collection offers the listener a deep dive into his early repertoire, when country music still sounded ‘country’, prior to the ”Countrypolitan” takeover from the late sixties onwards.
